This time last year I survived a T.I.A. Attach (Transient Ischemic Attack) which is a mini stroke. I was traveling out of the state of Minnesota when this happened and the Trinity Hospital of Chicago treated me very well. What I was left with was the uncertainty of what was going on in my life at that time. What did all of this mean? How could I be having a stroke at such a young age? Will this happen again and when?
When I arrived back in Minnesota, probably a year ago exactly yesterday, I was greeted with family. My aunt and my older sister were visiting, but on another assignment, however the three of us just so happened to be in the same place at the same time.
Let me tell you how good God works. Allow me to show you how good God is!
The three of us are together, my sister, my aunt and I, for a couple of days in which we had time to talk about reading a profound book that would ultimately change our lives over the next 4 months. The book we read was Journey to the Well written by, Bishop Vashti M. McKenzie which gives you 12 lessons on person transformation. My Aunty Nicole and I deeply completed the 12 lessons by the end of the year 2015. Some of the lessons were easy and some were very challenging. We would read and have a weekly meeting to discuss the chapter. We wanted the full experience as we are both women after God's heart so we really worked the lessons at the end of each chapter. We gladly did all of this not knowing that this was a way in which we were working our faith. Working these lessons resulted in my aunt and I drawing in a closer relationship with each other and with God. Being unashamed to be transparent and in our nakedness to truly be resolved with some of things of our past. To being to understand and see what God wants to do in our lives if we just surrender to His will. We became a living testimony of what God can do in us and through us over the next 8 months.
God, the potter, molded my Aunty Nicole into a prayer warrior. She was obedient to the instruction to begin a prayer line that women can call into from across the country and we can pray together in Love. The effects of being on the Monday morning prayer call has provided healing, strength, support, friendship and thanksgiving. On the call the prayers are all about thanksgiving, praise and blessing the Holy name of God. Giving God the glory and honor for all that he has done in our lives, is doing at that moment and is planning to do in the future. Then we take upon prayer request from anyone seeking prayer for any need. We then as a core group pray on one accord for those needs.
God, the potter, has molded me into a fearless writer. I have been obedient to write and share the gospel and my living testimony first beginning with a book series, Defining Moments with book one; Finding God in the Midst of it All. Then from there he has really developed my poetry and essays. All of this is because I am spending time with the Lord and in His living Word to gain a better understanding, knowledge and wisdom about the world that I live in and how to overcome everyday problems so that I can be of use in building God's kingdom.
There is way more to this story, like what really took place during those 8 months leading up to this day, but I guess you will have to take me out for a cup of coffee to get the rest of the scoop on that. I will say this; moving forward my goal for next year is to one, always have a notebook when speaking with my Aunt Nicole. She speaks profound words gifted to her from God. And two, accomplish the next thing that God wants me to work on. At this time I am not sure what that is but I believe it will begin with the studying of Repentance, Obedience, Silence, Praise and Agreement.
