Standing in support of why the presence of the St. Antony Villagers for Community Action (SAVAC) is needed to host community discussions about overt racism on and offline.
Consider the SAVCA as an advocate like the FDA the CDC; where they are here to listen to the concerns of the community and assist in mediating the community's issues with those like yourselves, that don’t always have time to do the analysis on how the laws & policies are affecting the community’s quality of life.
An advocate is someone who publicly supports a cause or policy. If I may, we as believers know and understand that we can get our lead on advocacy from the way that Jesus lived his life. He was the defendant for most cases and advocated for the change of many people, including yourselves, so that they too can live an everlasting life (John 3:16 NIV). We are living in a time where we can visually see the effects of a white supremacy ideological society; which reigns superior and has affected every nook and cranny of everyone’s lives, including white people. Now we are in the harvest season where it is more abundant and times have changed. People are reading and gaining knowledge of the systematic laws and policies that are in place and most importantly they are making the connection that the spiritual law reigns supreme and does not align with the type of oppression that the law is permeating in their lives. The community is confident that the Lord does not want them to live in shackles and in bondage and most importantly there is no reference to race in scripture. The community does not want to live by racism, they do not want it done to them or to others. How can you disagree with that? For when we are abused we cannot be productive which results in a long term economic and environmental effects. Is this what you want? There is only one band, one sound.
Allowing the SAVCA to be the advocate will allow for this transformation to take place. Listening, understanding and allowing people to heal from their hurts and can build trust with other ethnicity that are dividing us all. I wish we could go back to being children sometimes because none of this matters to them. They will play with whoever they want to play with regardless of race, education or economic status. We are creating these things that are now causing a big headache for us all. Reflect on your way home if you have ever been judged by the way that you look, the car that you drive, where you live, who your parents are, something your sibling did or lastly how you judge yourself when you look in the mirror while getting dressed and how those thoughts come from someone else’s opinion of what you should or should not look like.
What are you afraid of? That this will work? That people will have heated discussions? That there will be change? We cannot begin to dismantle racism without the planning and discussions on how to do so because racism is something that we have done for so many years, to ourselves, and it hurts! People have died, committed suicide and plain ole given up on life.
You know what? We actually do not need your permission to have these community conversations, we just thought you would like to be informed about the transformation that is going to take place! You can chose to participate and be a leader or you can be part of the continuing problem that is killing the entire human race and the earth right along with it. You are not exempt, you do not get a pardon. Either you are part of the solution or the problem, but there is no middle ground. You cannot ignore this because it will happen. There will be advocacy, there will be healing, there will be deliverance, there will be redemption because the Lord said so! The Lord abides forever, He has established His throne for judgement, and He will judge the world in righteousness; He will execute judgement for the people with equity (Psalm 9:7-8 NIV). And the beauty is, you do not have to answer to me, but you do have to answer to God, for who can live and not see death? (Psalm 89:48 NIV).
